![]() ESCANABA---The Escanaba Junior Little League All-Stars (age 13-14) won an Upper Peninsula sectional championship on Friday, beating Baraga County, 11-1 and 10-2, at Lemmerand Park. Escanaba advances to the state tournament in Indian River. Hannah Eddington won both games in the pitcher's circle for Escanaba. ![]() The second game was closer than the final score indicates, as Baraga County held a 1-0 lead after four innings of play. Baraga County pitcher Megan Kraft threw well, but the defense behind her eventually sprung a leak. Escanaba put up a pair of five-run innings, with the second one capped off by a Claire McInerney double that scord two runs, making it a 10-1 game. Of the 21 runs that Kraft allowed in the 13 innings of the two sectional games, only eight were earned runs. Eddington allowed no earned runs in 13 innings of work. Escanaba will represent the U.P. at the Junior Softball State Finals in Indian River. The team will report on Wednesday, with the first game set for Thursday in the eight-team event.
