Gladstone Girls Stay Alive; Battle Esky Wednesday
![]() GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Major Girls (age 11-12) won their third straight game on Tuesday, beating the Kingsford All-Stars, 15-0, at Howes Field. Brittany Schwartz threw a no-hitter, striking out ten batters in five innings. The Gladstone girls have eliminated three Dickinson County teams in the past three days (Norway, Iron Mountain North, Kingsford) by a combined score of 53-2. ![]() The Purple put the game away with six runs in the fifth inning, with four of the runs coming in on wild pitches with runners on third base. Maddy Algren was 3-for-3 from the #9 hole. Morgan Lateriello had a triple, and Sydney Herioux added RBI singles in both the first and second innings. Taylor Trudeau also contributed a two-run single in the second inning. Gladstone had 14 base hits in the game, while Kingsford committed six defensive errors. Gladstone will take on Escanaba in the district finals on Wednesday. The girls lost to Escanaba, 5-1, in the tournament's opener last Friday. Wednesday's game starts at 5:00 at Gladstone's Howes Field. If Gladstone wins, a second game would be played at 7:00.
