Little League 'Yooper' Tournament Starts In Esky
 ESCANABA---The annual "Yooper 9-10" boys baseball tournament helped to kick off the Little League All-Star season Friday in Escanaba. The host Escanaba boys picked up a win at Karl Dickson Field, as did Iron Mountain North. Schaffer dropped out of the tournament, meaning that Gladstone will have a bye in Saturday's quarterfinal round, and the first game now will start at 2:00 rather than noon. This tournament has been held for more than two decades in Escanaba, founded by former District Ten Little League District Administrator Karl Dickson. His daughter (pictured above) threw out the first pitch to kick things off on a sunny Friday afternoon in Escanaba. The tournament is held prior to the start of the District Tournaments every June. |
