Escanaba Senior Girls Top Norway For District Title
 ESCANABA---Sam Connor had a home run, double and single, and she pitched three innings in relief to earn the victory as the Escanaba Senior Girls (age 15-16) beat Norway, 11-7, in Wednesday night's district championship game.  Norway took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Courtnee Marquaret clubbed a two-run home run off of Escanaba starter Katie Ross. But Ross got her revenge when she got a two-run single in the third inning to put the game into a 2-2 tie. Norway gained a 4-2 lead in the third inning on an error and a wild pitch. But Escanaba rallied quickly, getting a solo home run from Connor. Later, Emily Bruntjens got a two-run base hit, and Kayla VanPortfliet and Taylor Segorski also got run-scoring base hits. Callie Heller, who made several defensive plays at shortstop, had an RBI single of her own as the Escanaba girls turned a 4-2 deficit into an 11-5 lead.

Segorski and Ross each had two hits for Escanaba, along with Connor's three base hits. Escanaba faces Keweenaw in the sectionals at 2:00 and 4:00 on Saturday.
