Gladstone Jr. Girls Overcome Errors; Top IM North
![]() GLADSTONE---Taylor Hunter had three hits and three RBI and Serina Sinnaeve had a two-run homer to lead the Gladstone Junior Girls (age 13-14) to an 11-1 win over Iron Mountain North in district tournament action Thursday in Gladstone. ![]() During that time, the Gladstone bats got a spark and gave Steinhoff a nice cushion. In the first inning, Kaitlyn Hardwick walked and scored on a triple by Taylor Hunter. Then in the second inning, Gladstone scored seven times to put the game away. Hunter had a two-run single during that inning, and Mykenzie Monkevich had an RBI single. Richelle Vandeville added a two-run single during that big offensive inning for Gladstone. Gladstone won despite making five defensive errors. ![]() Steinhoff pitched the first three innings for Gladstone, allowing no runs on two hits and a walk. She struck out five batters. Amber Lenards tossed the final two innings, giving up one unearned runs on two base hits. Lilly VanLoon pitched the whole way for Iron Mountain, allowing nine hits and eleven runs in 4 2/3 innings. She walked four, hit two batters, and struck out three. Gladstone plays Escanaba in the winners bracket Friday night.
