Escanaba Major Girls Top Taylor At State Tourney
PARCHMENT, Mich.---The Escanaba Major Girls (age 11-12) opened the state tournament on Friday with an easy win over Taylor North, 15-1, in the Kalamazoo suburb of Parchment. Escanaba scored five runs in the first inning, then added four in the second and six runs in the third. The Escanaba girls had ten base hits, and Taylor made six errors that led to numerous unearned runs. The game was called by the mercy rule after 3 and 1/2 innings of play. Emily Moore threw three innings, allowing no base hits and striking out eight batters. Mott pitched the fourth inning and allowed one run on one base hit.
