Gladstone 9-10 Boys Cruise Past Tri-County, 10-0
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Minor Boys (age 9-10) Little League All-Star team opened district tournament play Thursday with a 10-0 win over Tri-County at Gladstone's Howes Field. Thursday's game had been delayed by a day thanks to heavy rain that flooded the field Wednesday night. The Gladstone boys did not appear to be rusty from last week's Yooper Tournament championship as they scored four runs in the first inning. Both teams decided to limit their pitchers to 20 pitches each so that they could all be eligible to pitch again on Friday under Little League's 75-pitch count rule. Gladstone used four pitchers (Thomas Tackman, Luke Bracket, Tyler Darmogray, and Shaun Nelson). The Tri-County team also used four pitchers (Jason Kanerva, Jake Charlebois, Cole Paulson, and Trent Rutter). Darmogray had two hits for Gladstone, while Austin Solis, Eli Terrien, and Nathan Young all added RBI doubles. Christian Hall had an infield single for Tri-County. Tri-County will face Munising in a loser's bracket game at 5:00 on Friday in Gladstone. Gladstone will battle Escanaba in the winner's bracket game at 7:00 Friday evening.
