Escanaba Major Boys Roll Into District Title Game
ESCANABA---The Escanaba Major Little League All-Stars (age 11-12) are one win away from a long road trip. The boys topped Iron Mountain, 12-2, in the district tournament's winner's bracket final on Thursday, advancing to the district championship game this weekend. And a win in that game would send the Escanaba boys all the way downstate to Tecumseh for the state tournament at the end of the month...a city located near the Ohio border. Escanaba jumped to an early 6-0 lead and starting pitcher Ayden Mylander had no trouble making the lead stand up...with help from relievers Nick Rousseau and Nathan Howes. Rousseau had a huge day at the plate, slugging a two-run homer in the second inning, and then adding a two-run double later in the contest. Iron Mountain and Tri-County will play in the loser's bracket final on Friday, and Escanaba will face the winner on Saturday. That game will be played at Dickson Field at 4:00. |
