MHSAA Banning Drones At All Tournament Sites
EAST LANSING---The Michigan High School Athletic Association all banning the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles…or drones…at all tournament sites.
MHSAA Communications Director John Johnson explains that the devices could lose battery power, or the remote control could lose contact with the device. "Something that comes up, must come down," Johnson said. "It's a liability issue."

"There's also a concern of having an 'eye in the sky', literally, over a game to capture a coach's video," Johnson said. "Some people have said, well, if they can do that at a game, then maybe they'll try to do that at our practice, too'."
The MHSAA Executive Committee voted to ban these devices and anyone who tries to use one will be asked to leave, and the device can be confiscated.
Johnson says the Detroit Catholic High School League and the Michigan International Speedway have already banned the use of drones. |
