Rockets Pull Out Huge Win In 'Battle of Unbeatens'
![]() RAPID RIVER---They haven't won the war. But they've won the first battle. The Rapid River High School football team passed its first major test of the season Friday night, beating the Cedarville Trojans, 20-19, in a battle of two undefeated teams. The win gave the Rockets the inside track to the Bridge Alliance Conference championship, but they will have to deal with another undefeated team, the Bellaire Eagles, on Homecoming in a few weeks. Bellaire beat Brimley, 64-0, Friday night. ![]() But for now, Rapid River has bragging rights after beating the Trojans in a gutsy performance that ultimately came down to defense. Rapid River stopped Cedarville on a 4th-and-3 play with two minutes left in the contest to seal the deal. Offensively, Rapid River got an 80-yard touchdown run from Austin Wicklund, and Lucas Bero contributed a touchdown on a short run. And quarterback Mason Berglund hooked up with Michael Casey on a 30-yard touchdown pass. Rapid River (6-0) travels to Superior Central next Saturday afternoon.
