Eskymos, Redmen To Compete In Hockey Tourneys
The Escanaba Eskymos and Marquette Redmen play at two big hockey tournaments in Lower Michigan this month, while Kingsford will play in one. The schedules have been released for the events, to be held in Traverse City and Chelsea. The first tournament is the North/South Hockey Showcase at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, which hosts the Detroit Red Wings and other NHL teams' rookie teams every fall. There are 15 teams playing in that two-day tournament. On Friday, January 13th, Escanaba will face Portage Central at 6:00. Marquette will then take on Grandville at 8:15. On Saturday the 14th, Marquette will play Big Rapids at 11:45 in the morning, and Escanaba takes on Bay City Central at 2:30. The Kingsford Flivvers are a late addition to the field. They will play the host Bay Area Reps at Thursday night, January 12th, at 8:00 (ET), and then will face Bay City Central Friday afternoon at 1:30 (ET).
