Norway Tops Gladstone Twice To Stay Undefeated
NORWAY---The Gladstone Braves and Norway Knights played a pair of tight low-scoring games Monday night, and the Knights won them both, 2-0 and 1-0, to stay undefeated on the season. Norway is now off to a 13-0 start while the Braves fell to 7-10 on the year. John Edwardsen threw a one-hitter in the opener, with Hunter Botruff getting the only base hit for the Braves. In the second game, Bryce Plante threw a two-hitter, with Clay Cole and Jack Stephenson getting the only Gladstone base hits. Gladstone's pitchers also threw well, but had no offensive support. AJ Lundberg threw the first four innings in the opener, and Nick Trudeau tossed the fifth in final inning (these were six-inning games). In the nightcap, Trudeau got the start and went three innings, and Owen Hanson came on to pitch the final two innings. The doubleheader result means three straight shutout losses for the Braves, after they dropped a 2-0 decision to Peshtigo at home last Friday. In that game, Elliot Danhoff threw well, striking out eleven batters, but the Gladstone offense sputtered. Gladstone continues to play without Hunter Garling, Tyler Seymour, and Brandon Cooper, who are all on the injured list. The Braves have not scored in 19 straight innings, and they will host the red-hot Escanaba Eskymos on Thursday, and Sault Ste. Marie on Friday. |
