Delta County Baseball Battle Postponed By Weather
 ESCANABA---The Escanaba Eskymos and Gladstone Braves managed to play one inning of baseball on Tuesday before the rains made the field unplayable. The game was tied at 3-3 heading to the second inning when it was called. It was Eskymo Parent's Night, and they all lined up before the 5:00 first pitch to be introduced to the small crowd of spectators, most of whom were sitting in cars parked behind the outfield fences. The game itself started about ten minutes early. In the top of the first, the Braves scored three runs against Eskymo pitcher Justin Popelka. Braeden Lamberg and Noah Olsen each had RBI singles in the inning.  In the bottom of the first, the Eskymos matched Gladstone's three runs with three of their own off Braves started Tyson Seymour. The first run came in on a bases loaded walk to Hunter LaMarch, and the other two scored on a base hit by Jack Valentine. Olsen came on to relieve Seymour to get the final out of the first inning. As soon as the inning ended, the game was halted because the umpires spotted lightning in the area. Moments later, heavier rain started to fall, and the game was called off. Gladstone travels to Marquette for a doubleheader on Thursday, then hosts Peshtigo for a single game on Friday afternoon. All three of those games will be broadcast on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com. Escanaba travels to Negaunee on Friday, and then hits the road for a doubleheader at Shawano on Saturday. The games in Shawano will be carried on WCHT-AM (600).
