Gladstone Indians Lose Doubleheader To Kewaunee
KINGSFORD---The Gladstone Indians lost both ends of an American Legion Baseball doubleheader to Luxemberg-Kewaunee County, 6-2 and 2-1, Sunday afternoon. The Indians hadn't played for more than a week, since the team played three games at the Gregg Johnson Memorial Tournament in Gladstone. In the opener, Logan Brusky threw a four-hitter and the Wisconsin team took advantage for five Gladstone defensive errors. The Indians had a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning when Luxemberg scored four times to take control of the game. Caleb Williams had the two-run double during that rally, while the other two runs came in on back-to-back hit battsmen with the bases loaded. Sam Pouliot pitched well for the Indians, but took the loss, giving up just five hits. The Gladstone bats stayed asleep in the second game as Luxemberh scored two runs in the first inning and held on from there. The Lakers' runs in the first inning came home on an error and on a single by Tyler Cody. Gladstone scored in the fifth inning as Christian Tackman got a triple, bringing home Elliot Danhoff. But the Indians could not get the tying run. Wilson got the win for Luxemberg, allowing just four Gladstone base hits. Tackman had two of them. Christian Groleau was the tough-luck loser on the mound. He scattered five hits and allowed just one earned run in a complete-game effort. |
