Indians Top Black Sox, Fall To Midland In Tourney
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Indians split a pair of games Saturday at the Gregg Johnson Memorial Baseball Tournament Saturday at Don Olsen Field. The Indians topped the Sault Ste. Marie (Ontario) Black Sox, 11-3, in five innings, before falling to downstate powerhouse Midland Berryhill, 5-0, in the late game. The Indians didn't take long to grab the lead in the second inning. Groleau walked, and Sam Pouliot put down a perfect bunt for a single. Logan Heim walked to load the bases. Jack Stephenson's grounder scored one run, then Christian Tackman hit a grounder that scored a second run. An error on the play helped, and then Tackman stayed in a rundown long enough for Stephenson to score from third, and it was 3-1.
