Gladstone's Garling Picked D-3 All-State First Team
 EAST LANSING---Gladstone High School sophomore Hunter Garling was picked to the Division Three All-State First Team by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association. Garling batted .478 with four home runs and 25 RBI during the regular season. He also hit a home run in the district tournament. Garling was chosen as a "utility player", because he played at several different positions this season: pitcher, catcher, infield.

"And the Open Gyms with Coach during the winter. It really helps if you go to those," Garling continued. "When it comes time for tryouts in March, you're usually like three or four steps ahead of kids who haven't even touched the ball." Rudyard outfielder Luke Steikar was the only other Upper Peninsula baseball player to get All-State honors. He was picked to the First Team in Division Four.  |
