Braves Walked On By Green Bay Preble In Finale
 GREEN BAY, Wis.---The Gladstone High School Baseball team closed its regular season on Tuesday with a 6-3 loss to Gtreen Bay Preble in Wisconsin. Three Braves pitchers issued ten walks, including three with the bases loaded, in losing to a Wisconsin team for the second time this season. Gladstone, which finished its season with a 24-4 record, also lost to Green Bay Notre Dame earlier this month. "We hit the ball hard," Gladstone Manager Don Lauscher said. "But we hit shots right at them. I was happy with that, that's for sure. Defensively, we played well. But the walks just killed us. Ten walks. You can't win doing that." Hunter Garling, Drake Draze, and Christian Groleau shared the pitching duties. With the regular season now over, Lauscher says that his team needs to refocus as the district tournament begins on Friday with a home game against Negaunee. "Now, the record is 0-0," Lauscher said. "That (24-4) season is behind us. We'll practice the next couple of days. We'll do a lot of hitting, and rest our arms. Friday's game means everything to us. We need to be ready, and I surely think we will be." Friday's district semifinal game will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com, starting at 12:45. The second game will feature Houghton (who lost two one-run games in Marquette on Tuesday) against Superior Central at 4:00. The district championship game is set for 7:00 Friday night in Gladstone. |
