High School Baseball, Softball Hitting Stretch Drive
![]() The high school boys baseball and girls softball seasons are two weeks away from playoff time, and there were a bunch of regular season games Wednesday around the Upper Peninsula. BASEBALL: GLADSTONE BRAVES AT NEGAUNEE MINERS Game One: Gladstone 8, Negaunee 2: Cam Kelly pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed just two hits for the win. He also had a single and a RBI double. Braden Sundquist got the final five outs for the save. Braves had 15 hits offensively. Hunter Haanpaa pitched the whole way for the Miners. Tyler Darmogray turned two double plays on defense. Game Two: Gladstone 12, Negaunee 0 in five innings. Tyler Darmogray throws a four hitter over 4 2/3 innings. Austin Bagwell gets the final out. John Soderman smacked a solo home run to left field. Cam Kelly drove in three more runs. Hank Tincknell gave up all 12 runs for the Miners. Six of them were unearned. BASEBALL: NORWAY KNIGHTS WIN SKYLINE CONFERENECE Game One: Norway 6 Bark River-Harris 2. Ian Popp had three hits and two RBI. Landon Amundson had two hits and two RBI. Alex Ortman threw four innings for the win, striking out eight and allowing four hits for the Knights. Travis Mack took the loss for BR-H, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits. Joe Javurek and Ethan Ives both had two hits for the Broncos. Game Two: Norway 7, Bark River-Harris 5. Cole Baij, Ian Popp, and Chase Carlson combined to throw a four-hitter. Carlson and Alex Ortman both had RBI hits. Mason Bower had a two-run homer for the Broncos. Ethan Ives added an RBI double. SOFTBALL: ESCANABA ESKYMOS AT NEGAUNEE MINERS Game One: Escanaba 11, Negaunee 0 in six innings. Carney Salo had a 3 run homer in the first inning and Anna Boutilier added a two run double. McKayla Mott pitched a complete game 2 hitter with 12 strikeouts and she also hit a homer. Lizzy Sliva also hit a dinger and Carley McInerney had an inside the park homer. Game Two: Escanaba 15, Negaunee 0 in four innings. Carsyn Segorski had a three run homer. Carney Salo, McKayla Mott, and Erica Moore all had two run homers. Grayson LaMarche threw four innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven. SOFTBALL: GLADSTONE BRAVES AT MENOMINEE MAROONS Game One: Gladstone 17, Menominee 0. Reese Herioux has three hits and five runs batted in. Tia Schone had three hits and three RBI. Lauren Sundquist added three hits and two RBI. Braves scored 12 runs in the top of the first inning. Game Two: Gladstone 10, Menominee 0. Game goes full 7 innings. Lauren Sundquist had a home run and a triple. Samara Sandville had a two-run single. Tia Schone pitched all seven innings, allowing four base hits. She struck out 14 Maroon batters. BASEBALL: NEWBERRY INDIANS AT MANISTIQUE EMERALDS Game One: Manistique 5, Newberry 1. Isaiah Brow pitched five innings of three-hit ball to earn the win. Cooper Curtis hit two batters and gave up a single in the final inning but got out of the jam. Jude Way had two hits for the Emeralds. Game Two: Manistique 15, Newberry 2. Game called after three innings. Emeralds had 15 runs on only four hits. Newberry pitchers walked 12 batters and there were five Indians errors. Parker Graphos threw three innings of one-hit ball to earn the pitching win. |
