Gladstone Indians Sweep Doubleheader From Sault
![]() GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Indians American Legion Baseball team kept rolling along on Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader from the Eastern U.P. Travelers, 6-1 and 5-1, at Don Olsen Field. The Indians have now won 16 of their last 17 ballgames. ![]() He was able to avoid giving up the big hit with men in scoring position, allowing seven base hits and four walks, but stranding ten baserunners during his five innings on the mound. Gladstone took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when EUP starter Trevor Wregglesworth walked three straight batters. Caden Alworden had a lengthy at-bat before ripping an RBI single to left-center. Cody Frappier followed with a sacrifice fly. In the top of the fifth, EUP got on the board when Alex Morehouse led off with a single, went to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a git by Drew Larson. With two out, Shane Thompson beat out an infield hit and the next two men walked to load the bases. Crow was able to get a called third strike on Mike Radle to end the threat. Gladstone scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. Tyson Seymour doubled down the left field line, then Dan Martin doubled him home with a shot to right field. Crow got an infield hit, Alworden was hit by a pitch, and Frappier got an RBI single. ![]() Kyler Moir finished on the mound for EUP (19-10), after Wregglesworth threw five innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight base hits. Gladstone (17-4) got five innings from Crow, and two innings of relief from Martin. Martin allowed three hits but did not yield a run. In the second game, Jake Rogers earned the win on the mound, with Cooper Cavadeas throwing the final inning. Derrick Edington took the loss for the Travelers. The Indians are home Wednesday night for a rematch from last year's state championship game as Menominee comes to town. Game time is 7:00.
