TAKE TWO: Indians Beat Manitowoc, GB Shockers
![]() MARINETTE, Wis.---The Gladstone Indians brought out the big bats to beat Manitowoc, 10-0, in five innings Saturday morning at the Marinette Firecracker Tournament. Then the Indians used small ball and pitching to turn back the Green Bay Preble Shockers, 2-1, in a tense game under blazing heat at Haase Field. ![]() In the morning game, Braeden Lamberg, Tyson Seymour, and Dan Martin all hit two-run home runs. Seymour and Martin also had doubles, and Lamberg had a single. Jared Crow had a two-run single in the first inning to get the scoring started, and pitcher Jake Rogers threw all five innings to earn the victory. In the afternoon game, the Shockers scored a run in the first inning as Crow walked two batters and gave up an RBI base hit to clean-up hitter Jarrett Scheel The Indians came back with two runs in the second inning when Cole Hansen led off with a walk and Cooper Cavadeas followed with a base hit. Ian Schwalbach bunted them to second and third, and a wild pitch scored the tying run. Then Zach Hanson put down a perfect squeeze bunt to bring home Cavadeas with the go-ahead run. Gladstone was in "hang on" mode in every inning from there. The Shockers, filled with players from Preble High School, had multiple base runners in every inning as Crow struggled with the heat and the umpire's strike zone. He walked seven batters, but left with the lead in the fifth inning. Hanson came in to throw the final 2 1/3 innings for the save, and he also worked out of jams with two hits allowed, plus he hit two batters. The Shockers stranded an astounding 15 runners.
