Escanaba Cubs Blanked In Marinette Tourney, 10-0
![]() MARINETTE, Wis.---The Escanaba Cubs stranded the bases loaded twice and eventually lost to Marinette, 10-0, in the Marinette Firecracker Tournament opener Friday night. The Cubs were limited to three hits, but walks and errors gave them scoring chances that they could not capitalize on. ![]() He struck out two and walked two. Connor Aiken threw 2/3 of an inning, and was charged with three runs. Jake Anderson pitched the final 1/3 inning, yielding two runs. Anderson had a two-out single for the Cubs in the first inning. Zeke Strand extended his hit streak to five games with a hit in the second, and LaMarche singled in the fifth inning. Marinette collected nine hits, including back-to-back two-run hits in the fifth inning by Austin Marquardt and Adam Wahl. Those hits triggered the mercy rule. Matt Eldridge struggled on the mound for Marinette, throwing 95 pitches for the five-inning win. He walked four and struck out five, along with allowing three hits. Escanaba (1-6) plays two more games on Saturday: at Noon ET/11 a.m. CT against the Green Bay Shockers, and at 6:30 ET/5:30 CT against Pulaski.
