OVERHEATED: Esky Cubs Drop 2 At Tournament
![]() MARINETTE, Wis.---The Escanaba Cubs lost a pair of games on Saturday at the Marinette Firecracker Tournament, 5-1 to the Green Bay Shockers and 13-0 to Pulaski, Wis. The Cubs played under temperatures that soared into the 90's, plus humidity. In the game against Green Bay, the Cubs gave up three runs on just one hit: an RBI single by Dominic Mariucci. The other runs came in on walks issued by Cubs starting pitcher Drew Rodman, and Shockers ended up drawing tweleve walks during the contest. ![]() In the afternoon game, Escanaba gave up nine runs in the first inning and Pulaski cruised to the mercy-shortened win in five innings. The key hit was a bases-loaded three run triple by leadoff hitter Chase Reinke. He had three of Pulaski's 13 hits off Escanaba starter Noah Lancour and relievers Connor Aiken and Zeke Strand. Escanaba's only hit was an infield single by Tyler Lawson in the third inning. The Cubs finish Firecracker Tournament play Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. CT against Manitowoc.
