Dawson, Pickard Score Two Each As Redmen Roll

SAULT STE. MARIE---The Marquette Redmen boys soccer team traveled to Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday and beat the Blue Devils, 5-1, in the next-to-last game of the season.
Max Dawson scored two more goals, and now has 35 goals this season for the Redmen, which is nearly a goal-and-a-half per game. Ezra Pickard also scored twice as the Redmen improved to 19-2-2 on the season, with one game remaining.
Marquette jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead as Dawson scored from Evan Sysko; Ezra Pickard tallied from Jack Sysko; and Pickard scored again, from Isaac Johnson.
Johnson scored a goal in the second half to make it 4-0 (with assists going to Ethan Sandstrom and Pickard) before the Blue Devils scored to break the shutout.
Dawson finished the scoring with an assist from Mason Bocklund. Marquette Goaltender Edan Hautamaki faced just two shots.
“We are happy with the result today. We executed most of the game plan well. It is a good road win," Redman Coach Dan Salmon said.
The Redmen host Houghton next Wednesday in the final regular season game.
