MINOCQUA, Wis.---The Marquette Redmen traveled to Minoqua Wisconsin on Saturday, September 17th for two soccer games.
In the first game, the Redmen played the host Lakeland Union to a 2-2 tie and won the shootout 4-3. Senior Max Dawson got the scoring started for Marquette off a pass from sophomore goaltender Edan Hautamaki for a 1-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Lakeland tied the game before sophomore Indigo Catalano put Marquette back ahead with a penalty kick. Lakeland tied the game back up with seven minutes to go forcing a shoot out. ![]()
“Our team played well. Lakeland has a similar playing style to us and I feel we were very equally matched. We had the same outcome last year so it is nice to be on the winning side of these shootouts," Redmen Coach Dan Salmon said.
“This was a tough game for us having no recovery time after the Lakeland game (Games were back to back). We were able to use the depth of our roster to get the win. I am proud of the team coming away with two victories this weekend," Salmon said. Marquette returns to action on Tuesday night at home against Iron Mountain. They now have a record of 13-2-1 on the season. Photo #1- Marquette goal tender Edan Hautamaki makes a save vs Lakeland Union in the shoot out round.
