Braves Overwhelm Wolverines In Basketball Battle
![]() GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School boys basketball team was not about to take the Class D Mid Peninsula Wolverines lightly when the two teams met Monday night in Gladstone. After all, this group of guys was shocked by another Class D team, Rapid River, last season. But there would be no upset this time as the Braves cruised, 80-46. Reece Castor scored 23 points and Brad Spindler added 21 for the Braves, who improve to 3-1 on the season. Jack Stephenson and Rudy Peterson both scored nine points. ![]() Mid Peninsula (1-4) was led by Terry Brower's 12 points. Evan Hall added nine points, while Brandon Nummilien and Mitch Barron both scored eight points. Gladstone also won Monday night's junior varsity game, 57-26. Mid Peninsula hosts Rapid River on Thursday, Dec. 29. That game will be broadcast live on WUPF-FM (107.3), and on-line at www.radioresultsnetwork.com. NORTH CENTRAL 70, MENOMINEE 59---The two-time defending state champion North Central Jets won their 59th straight game Monday, beating the Menominee Maroons, 70-59, in Menominee. Jason Whitens scored 22 points as the Jets (4-0) put four players in double figures. Marcus Krachinski had 16 points, while Dawson Bilski and Bobby Kleiman each added 15. Marcus McKenney led Menominee with 24 points. ![]() |
