Eric Kostreva scored three touchdowns to lead the Ishpeming Hematites to a 20-14 win over Detroit Loyola Saturday to win the Division Seven state championship at Ford Field. The Kingsford High School hockey team dropped its season-opener Wednesday night to the Bay Port Pirates, 3-1, at the Mountain View Ice Arena. Ted Pietila scored Kingsford's only goal in the second period. The game was tied 1-1 in the third period before the Pirates from the Green Bay area scored twice to win the game. Bay Port outshot Kingsford, 15-3, in that third period. Kingsford goaltender Wes Poupore stopped 23 shots.
