Gladstone Wrestlers Win Super Dual Championship
MUNISING---The Gladstone High School wrestling team dominated the U.P. Super Dual Championships Friday afternoon in Munising. Seven Gladstone boys went undefeated on the day in this 14-team event, which featured wrestlers from every corner of the Upper Peninsula. Gladstone 130-pounder Cole Hansen was chosen as the tournament's Most Valuable Wrestler. Besides Hansen, Austin Demeuse (171 pounds), Cole Dawson (160), Brody Sanville (140), Adam Bruce (135), Vadym Torvinen (119), and Chandler Liebold (112 pounds) all went undefeated and won their respective weight classes. Gladstone won all five of its dual meets by a wide margin, beating Gwinn (66-9), Kingsford (66-16), Iron Mountain (63-12), Westwood (76-6), and Menominee (67-9). Bark River-Harris also competed in the tournament, with Adam Kleikamp (pictured below) going undefeated and winning his weight class. The Broncos' top wrestler, Tyler Labadie, was not at Friday's Super Dual event due to illness. The teams at the event were: Gladstone, Bark River-Harris, Gwinn, Ishpeming, Westwood, Newberry, St. Ignace, Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Rudyard, Munising, Manistique, Menominee, and Sault Ste. Marie. |
