Gladstone Wrestlers Take Northern Michigan Duals
KALKASKA---The Gladstone High School wrestling team won the championship of the Northern Michigan Super Duals on Saturday in Kalkaska. This follows the Braves' championship at the U.P. Super Duals in Munising just before New Year's. This time, seven Gladstone boys went undefeated to win their respective weight classes. The Braves were led by senior Mason Frederick, who pinned all five of his opponents. Also going undefeated: Cole Hansen, Lane Matzke, Vadym Torvinen, Brody Sanville, Austin Demeuse, and Jared Demeuse. Adam Bruce and Alex Chouinard all went 4-1. Gladstone won all five of its matches, beating Ravenna (70-9), Manistique (71-12), Mancelona (53-27), Reed City (62-15), and Sault Ste. Marie (66-18). There were a total of ten teams in the event, but the Braves did not face Rogers City, Petoskey, Frankfort, or the host Kalkaska Blazers. Gladstone improved to 14-0 in dual meets, and will have a rivalry battle next Thursday night in Escanaba against the Eskymos. The action begins at 6:00. (Gladstone High School Wrestling Photo) |
