The Bay College Norse volleyball team opened its season with four matches over the weekend at a tournament in Rockford, Illinois.
The Norse lost to Hawkeye College, 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-10), and fell to Edison State, 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-12).
The next day, Bay lost to McHenry County College, 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19) before getting its first win of the season against Glen Oaks Community College. In that match, Bay rallied from a 2-sets-to-1 deficit to win in the fifth set, 15-5. Ava Maki and Haylee Gatien both had 17 kills for the Norse, and Hilarie Porcaro led the way on defense with 17 digs. Maki contributed 15 digs, and Jillian Fraser had four service aces.
The Norse will be back on the road later this week for s triangular at Century College in Minnesota, with two matches Friday night and one on Saturday. Bay’s home opener isn’t until September 17th.
