Northern Michigan Athletics has named Keil Ganz as its next head men's basketball coach, Athletic Director Rick Comley announced Friday. Ganz returns to Marquette after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. This marks his third stint with the Wildcats program, as he previously served as associate head coach during the 2024-25 season and as an assistant coach in 2023-24, following an earlier stop in 2019-20. The longtime coach of the Gogebic Community College Samsons basketball team is retiring. Dennis Mackey announced on Thursday that he will be retiring as of May 31st, after 38 years of teaching and coaching at the Ironwood school. He won more than 500 games during 19 years of coaching the women's team, followed by 19 more years coaching the men's team. The Grand Valley State women's basketball team etched their name in the history books once again, winning their second straight National Championship, and the second in program history.
