Gladstone Indians Win U.P. Zone Championship

MENOMINEE---The Gladstone Indians won the Upper Peninsula American Legion baseball Zone championship on Sunday after heavy rains rolled into Menominee.

Gladstone was leading a depleted Escanaba Cubs team, 15-0, in the second inning at the time. Tournament officials awarded the championship to the Indians as being the only undefeated team left in the tournament.

Gladstone faces Hancock in the state tournament in Adrian at 1:30 on Thursday. Escanaba faces an unknown opponent Thursday at 4:00. Both games will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com.
