The Panthers shot an astounding 64 three-point baskets in the contest, and they made an equally-astounding 19 of them. The Panthers had more than double the shot attempts that the Norse had (83 to 39), and they outrebounded Bay, 49-30.
![]() Norse Coach Todd Ciochetto says there were some positives for his team despite the lopsided loss on the scoreboard.
“I thought we did things better than we did (Saturday) against Milwaukee,” Ciochetto said. “It's just, they hit 19 threes and they had 21 offensive rebounds. That's because we weren't in the right spots. I thought we did actually do some good things. I'm actually not as disappointed as I was after Milwaukee.”
The first five minutes of the game were good for the Norse, as they started the game forcing a 30-second shot clock violation on the Panthers, and the contest was tied at 9-9 after Kennedy Sproule nailed a triple and Cam Carver-Bonner scored inside.
But things went downhill rapidly for Bay under a barrage of three-point baskets made by eight different Morton players. A 15-1 run ended the first quarter for the Panthers, and they took firm control of the contest by outscoring Bay, 29-4, in the second quarter.
That 44-5 turnaround put the Norse in a 53-14 hole at halftime, and the Panthers kept scoring all the way to the end.

Morton (11-2) got 22 points from Sophia Rummel, who made five triples along the way. The Panthers defense forced 38 turnovers in the contest, while the Bay defense could force only eight.
Still, Ciochetto was encouraged with his team's start.
“We had some bad calls there too that really turned the momentum, and that wasn't OK,” he said, bluntly. “If we just do little things, that game, yeah, they beat us. But it's not like that (95-31). I've never been beat like that, but I'm OK with it if we grow from it, figure out what we did wrong. If we had competed for 40 minutes, it would have been a little different.”
Bay College fell to 4-6 on the season and will face another tough team, the Oakton Oils, Saturday afternoon, in Illinois. ![]() |
