![]() The Norse trailed by as many as 50 points before outscoring Delta, 22-8, to end the game. But the defensive pressure applied by the Pioneers got to the Norse, causing numerous turnovers that led to easy baskets at the other end.
“We put ourselves in positions to handle that pressure just a little bit, and there was a lot of open availability in the middle,” Bay College Coach Matt Gregory said. “I think we just have to have confidence in ourselves to make that pass, and trusting everyone else to step up and make that catch. It seemed like that it definitely sped our minds up a little bit, and our bodies couldn't seem to slow down when that pressure was happening.”
Delta raced to a 22-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, and 47-20 at halftime. Things didn't get better in the third quarter as the Norse gave up a whopping 31 points.
“It is very frustrating,” Gregory said. “It's frustrating to see that. We know that we have a lot of basketball games left. We've got to keep playing and keep fighting for it. There's a lot of good spots on our team that just need to step up and realize that. When things aren't going our way, we can't hang our heads. Then, we're in deep trouble. I feel like today was 'go through the motions and get the 40 minutes done as quick as possible and get out of here'. That's unfortunately what it felt like.”
![]() Delta improved to 10-9 overall and 4-1 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. The Pioneers were led by Catarina Juarez, who had 27 points and eight rebounds, and Destiny Harrison, who scored 24 points and grabbed nine boards.
