The Escanaba Minor Little League All-Stars (age 8-10) took the District Ten championship Thursday night with a 2-1 win over Gladstone. There were just three base hits combined between the two teams in a pitcher's duel between Escanaba's Mya Humbert and Gladstone's Maia Hughes.
The Northern Michigan women's wrestling team has joined the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Beginning in the 2025-26 academic year, women's wrestling will be the 27th sponsored sport of that conference, which will have seven teams. NMU's GLIAC rivals Grand Valley State and Davenport will also join this conference, which includes four schools from Illinois and Missouri.
