HARRIS---Ater a four-and-a-half-hour delay on Saturday morning, the second round of the Island Resort Championship finally kicked off. Half of the field was able to finish their round before it was suspended due to darkness at 9:15 p.m. local time. The second round will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, with the final round estimated to get underway at approximately 11 a.m.
Sophia Schubert was the leader in the clubhouse when play was suspended, posting a 36-hole score of 6-under. The Tennessee native signed for a bogey-free, 5-under second round to take the lead at the conclusion of the morning wave.
Epson Tour sophomore, Amari Avery, holds the best score on the course, sitting at 8-under with six holes to play on Sunday morning. She was one of two that held the lead after the first round and looks to maintain the solo lead heading into the final round.
