CELEBRATING SUCCESS: Wildcat Basketball Players Get Championship Rings

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team received its championship rings on Saturday, and were recognized at halftime of the NMU-Ferris State football game at the Superior Dome.

The rings were presented for the 'Cats winning the 2025-26 Regular Season GLIAC championship, and for their NCAA Tournament run.

Last season, the Wildcats went 16-4 in conference play and finished with the most wins in program history after ending the year 28-7. The ‘Cats earned the No. 1 overall seed in the GLIAC Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

The 5th seeded ‘Cats would continue to build on their incredible season with a win over 4th seeded Rockhurst University in the DII NCAA Tournament, where they closed the game on a 10-2 run in the final 32 seconds.

The players from that team, and Coach Matt Majkrzak (now coaching at Northern Illinois), were on hand for Saturday's ceremony.
