American Legion Baseball Returns After COVID-19

ESCANABA---American Legion Baseball is back after the 2020 season was cancelled due to concerns over the coronavirus. While an Upper Peninsula league was set up and a champion was crowned, the usual statewide competition under the Legion banner didn't happen.

Monday night, the Escanaba Junior Cubs beat the Marquette Junior Reds in two games. Click the thumbnails above to see photos and videos from those games.

Tuesday's Escanaba Cubs-Marquette Blues season opener is cancelled due to the length of the Escanaba High School baseball season, which ended Saturday in the regional final.

Many of the Upper Peninsula's teams will be in Delta County for the Gregg Johnson Memorial Tournament, starting Thursday night and running through Sunday. There will be ten games broadcast on RRN radio stations during the tournament.

In Monday's JV games, Escanaba won both, 18-7 and 15-5.
