Frazer Drives In Six As Indians Pound Ishpeming

GLADSTONE---Christian Groleau and Lucas LaCosse combined on a three-hitter and the Gladstone Indians scored in all four of their at-bats to post a 14-0 win over the Ishpeming Blue Storm Tuesday night at Don Olsen Field.

The Indians scored three times in the first inning on a two-run single by Cody Frazer and a Hayden Hardwick RBI single. The Indians scored again in the second inning on an RBI double by Hardwick, and the Indians had a 4-0 lead.

Lucas LaCosse pitched in relief.
Gladstone added five more runs in the third on a groundout by James Capodilupo, a two-run single by Frazer, and another RBI single by Hardwick.

The Indians tallied five more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by RBI singles by Junior Indians regulars Ben Schwalbach and Braeden Lamberg.

Frazer added a two-run double in that inning. He drove in six runs for the night with his three hits. Hardwick had three hits and three runs batted in.

"We haven't been swinging the bats well lately," Indians Manager Jim Groleau said. "Tonight, we hit it hard and on a line.  Maybe we finally turned things around."

Groleau, who was cleared to play earlier in the day after suffering a slight MCL tear over the weekend, worked four innings, allowing three hits and striking out five batters.

"We wanted to get Christian on the mound right away to see how the knee would respond and he looked pretty good," Jim Groleau said.

LaCosse worked a perfect fifth inning, recording two strikeouts in the process.

Connor Hanlon took the loss for the Blue Storm.

Gladstone (17-12-1) hosts arch-rival Escanaba Wednesday night at the Gladstone Sports Park. Game time is 6:00. The game will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com.
