MARQUETTE, Mich. –
The Northern Michigan University lacrosse team returned to the Superior Dome looking for a bounce-back game after dropping two straight on the road, and the 'Cats took care of business against Concordia St. Paul, defeating the Golden Bears by a score of 13-11.

Minnie Bittell led the way for the Green and Gold as she led all athletes with five goals on the evening, and broke Northern's all-time goal record of 108 goals (112), putting her at 20 on the season. Kaitlyn Bridger potted two goals and registered two assists for four points on the evening, and Katelyn Mongold netted two of her own and registered a helper.

After a slow start to the first quarter, Minnie Bittell was able to strike first with the Wildcats taking the lead. In those following few minutes, Bittell netted two more, earning her a hat trick in the first ten minutes of the contest. The Golden Bears clawed back with two goals of their own, but Bittell was able to score a free position shot, netting another for Northern to cushion the 'Cats lead.

As the first quarter was put in the rearview mirror, NMU led the game with a score of 4-2. The Golden Bears struck first this time around but it didn't take the Wildcats long to bounce back. Bittell found her fifth goal of the game and Madi Bast followed behind from an assist by Kaitlyn BridgerDanielle Key made NMU's seventh goal of the night, putting her at two this season. Another goal was scored by the Golden Bears which was reciprocated by Bridger, and Taylor Priestley added her own not too long after. With halftime looming, the 'Cats were up by four points at 9-5.

Two goals were made by CUSP to start the third quarter, but NMU kept their lead with Lauren Rygiel's first goal of the season. After another Concordia netting, Katelyn Mongold stepped up to the plate and scored, earning her 18th goal of the season and first of the game.

A small game of cat and mouse was played in the final 15 minute. Lauren Sheets of CSP kicked off the back-and-forth and Bridger hit back only a minute later. The Golden Bears scored twice in two minutes to bring the game within two goals with just over six minutes left, but the 'Cats shut the door defensively on the back of some key saves and stout defending to hold onto a crucial 13-11 victory.
