Escanaba's Maki To Play Football At Michigan Tech
ESCANABA---Escanaba High School senior Bryant Maki committed Tuesday to attending Michigan Tech University and playing football there. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver says he received five college offers. He says he ultimately chose Tech because he wants a career in engineering. "I decided to go up to Michigan Tech for academics and athleics," Maki said. "They have a great mixture of both. I mean, academics always come first. Since I was young, academics have always been important. Me being an engineer. It's been a no-brainer. I've always been looking at Tech. When I got that offer, there was no question. Great place up there. After I visited, I found out that it was the place for me." Maki has had straight A's in the classroom in Escanaba, with a current Grade Point Average of 4.1 on a 4.0 scale. On the field, he was one of the Eskymos' top offensive threats, although the Eskymos only played two reguiar season games and one playoff game this fall. "It's a big jump," Maki said. "My last full season was my junior year (of high school). Freshman year of college is going to be totally different. I've got to work harder. Got to get up there and show them what I can do. They have a great group of guys, great coaches, and a great culture up there." |
