Escanaba Football Season Ends With Playoff Loss

ALMA---The Escanaba Eskymos had their football season come to an end on Saturday as they lost to the Alma Panthers, 28-14, in the first round of the MHSAA playoffs in Lower Michigan.'

The Eskymos got off to a great start when Brandon Frazer passed to Bryant Maki for a 60-yard touchdown on the third play of the game.

But the Panthers scored the next 28 points. Quarterback TJ Arens had touchdown passes of 31, 39, and 45 yards.

The Eskymos scored in the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass from Frazer to Tyler Lawson. The two-point pass to Maki was good, but the Eskymos could get no closer.

Escanaba finished a COVID-19 shortened season with a 1-2 record, having never played a home game.  The Panthers improved to 3-4 and will play at Ludington next week.
