Milwaukee Tech Takes Two From Gogebic Samsons
![]() ESCANABA---The Milwaukee Tech College Stormers won both the men's and women's games over the Gogebic Community College Samsons on Saturday in Escanaba. Milwaukee Tech won the women's game, 65-61, then took the men's contest, 114-51. ![]() The Stromers opened up a seven-point lead in the final three minutes after Coraye Wesley knocked down a triple. The Samsons battled back as Emily Cronkright nailed a three-pointer and Hailey Froberg scored three times. Froberg's third basket brought GCC to within 63-61 with 22.8 seconds to play, but Gianna Anderson drove the lane and scored with 8.2 seconds to play to put the game out of reach. Wesley had 27 points and Anderson scored 19 for Milwaukee Tech. The Lady Samsons got 20 points from Froberg and 19 from Arianna While. The men's game was not nearly as close. The Stormers dominated from strat to finish, and subjected Gogebic to seven slam dunks along the way. Four of them came in a short period of time during a 13-0 run in the first half, with Shannon Sanford getting two of the slams. ![]() Sanford also nailed a triple from the corner in the closing seconds of the first half and ended up with a game-high 22 points. Five other Milwaukee Tech players scored in double figures: Melvin Lee III with 16, Yuri Swinford with 15. D'Angelo-Young Prior and Justin Briley both scored 14 points and Martin added a dozen points. Mitchell Borseth scored 16 points to lead Gogebic, making four three-pointers along the way.
