CN Wolves, NCA Jets Cruise To Basketball Victories
![]() The Carney-Nadeau Wolves and North Central Jets both improved to 2-0 on the boys basketball season with victories Thursday night. Carney beat North Dickinson on the road, 54-41, while North Central rolled past Rapid River at home, 93-39. In Felch, four players scored in double figures for the Wolves. Hunter Eichhorn led the way with 15 points. Preston Lauscher had 13 points, Jacob Janoski scored 11, and Jacob Kleiman added ten points. North Dickinson got 12 points from Hunter Mattson. C-N led just 26-25 at the half, but played great defense in the third quarter, limiting the Nordics to just four points. Carney led, 39-29, at that point, and cruised from there. "North Dickinson did a great job of getting us into foul trouble," C-N Head Coach Jacob Polfus said. "We were playing good enough defense, but the fouls were a problem. I thought the kids played a great second half. Our guards played well against their guards." In Powers, the two-time defending state champion NCA Jets rolled to a 45-20 lead at halftime and beat the Rockets on the running clock to get their 57th straight victory. NCA senior and Michigan Tech University recruit Dawson Bilski was on fire, nailing seven three-point baskets. He ended up with 34 points. Jason Whitens added 18 points and fellow senior Marcus Krachinski contributed eleven points. Thanks to Jim Belec for photos from the CN-ND game. |
