Rapid River Girls Close Regular Season With Sweep
![]() RAPID RIVER---The Rapid River Rockets softball team closed the regular season the right way on Wednesday, sweeping the Superior Central Cougars, 15-0 and 15-0, in Rapid River. Both games were called on the mercy rule in the third inning. In the first game, Hannah Kanyuh pitched all three innings, allowing just one hit. Erica Rubick opened the scoring with a bases-loaded double, scoring three runs. Richelle Vandeville added a two-run double during the Rockets' eight-run second inning. Between games, the Rapid River softball parents were recognized for their dedication to the program. The Rockets will face the Cougars again next Tuesday in a MHSAA Division Four District Tournament. Right now, that game is scheduled to be played in Newberry. The Rockets will enter the post-season ranked No. 5 in the state in Division Four.
