Lancour Pitching, Lawson Hitting Powers Eskymos
QUINNESEC---The Escanaba High School baseball team spotted the Kingsford Flivvers a 2-0 lead but rebounded to win going away, 10-4, Wednesday evening in Quinnesec. The Eskymos remained undefeated on the season with an 8-0 record.
Hunter Lancour gave up a two-run double to Chase Kreski in the first inning, and would not give up another base hit for the next four innings. The Eskymos gave him plenty of run support, and the Flivvers helped out by making eight errors on defense. Escanaba took a 3-2 lead in the third inning against Flivvers ace Andrew Paupore, with two errors contibiuting to the scoring. Tyler Lawson's RBI double brought in his little brother, Trent, in the fourth inning to make it a 4-2 Eskymo lead. Escanaba put the game away with five runs in the fifth inning. Lawson and Arnt had RBI hits in that inning. Lancour was cruising into the sixth inning before he yielded three straight hits to start the bottom of the sixth, two of which were on the infield. He left with a 9-3 lead after six innings, and Carter Hudson finished up by giving up one run on a hit and a walk in the seventh. Nick Kolich and Bryant Maki both had double for the Eskymos. Escanaba hosts Negaunee in a doubleheader on Thursday. Game time for the opener is 4:30. Both games will be broadcast live on WCHT-FM (93.5) and WCHT-AM (600) and on-line at www.rrnsports.com. |
