Halvorson Helps Norse Break Long Losing Skid, 4-2
ESCANABA---The Bay College Norse baseball team broke its 23-game losing streak on Sunday with a 4-2 win over Bryant & Stratton (Wis.) College in the second game of a doubleheader. Tanner Halvorson had a home run and two doubles for the Norse. The Norse lost the opener, 5-1. Logan Michalko drove in the only Norse run. Drake Forrest and Carson Shea had doubles. Brenden Bille threw a four hitter for the Bobcats. Nicholas Goebert threw four innings and took the loss, as the Bobcats scored three runs in the first inning. Bay turned the tables in the second game, however, scoring three runs themselves in the first inning. Halvorson was dominant at the plate with a solo home run and two doubles, the first of which drove in a run. Hector Araguayan added an RBI single for Bay's third run in that first inning. Jack Bower pitched 6 2/3 innings of five-hit ball, striking out six and walking three. The Norse improved to 3-24 on the season. The Bobcats fell to 18-22. Bay travels to Illinois on Thursday for a doubleheader against the College of DuPage. |
