Norway 11's Smack Taylor In State Tournament 11-0
VICKSBURG, Mich.---The Norway 11-year-old boys Little League All-Star team opened its state tournament on Thursday with an 11-0 win over Taylor Northwest in downstate Vicksburg. The game was shortened to four innings on the mercy rule.
Alex Ortman started on the mound for Norway giving up one hit, striking out four, and walking one, in a 2 1/3 innings. Ortman gave way to Wyatt Spade who threw 1 1/3 innings, striking out two. Ian Popp finished up.
In the second inning, Travis Johnson led off with a single, followed by Hayden Amundson's single. Both scored on a two-run base hit by Wyatt Spade.
In the third inning, Erickson's single moved Popp to third and Holmes followed with a two-run single to make it 10-0. Haferkorn's third single of the day scored Holmes giving Norway an 11-0 lead. In the end, Norway's batters had 13 hits, 3 K's and 3 walks.
They play Grosse Pointe Woods/Shores Friday night at 6:30 in Schoolcraft. |
