World Series 2nd Place Eskymos Get Big Reception
ESCANABA---The Escanaba Senior Little League All-Stars returned home Sunday to a hero's welcome after their World Series runner-up finish in Delaware.
The girls flew from the East Coast to Chicago in the morning, and then caravaned back to the Upper Peninsula in the afternoon. The team of 15 and 16 year-old Little League softball team was then treated to a police escort and parade through the streets of Escanaba, and hundreds of people lined the streets to wave as the girls rode by.
Then, a large crowd turned out at Lemmerand Park to meet the girls and see them get their awards. The Escanaba girls, with only ten players, made it to the World Championship game, against teams from larger communities. Escanaba lost to Missoula, Montana, 10-0, in a nationally-televised game Saturday afternoon in Delaware.
