Salo No-Hitter Leads Delta County Girls To Victory
 ESCANABA---The Delta County Junior Little League All-Stars (age 13-14) opened what they hope will be a long tournament run Tuesday with a 15-0 win over the Kingsford All-Stars in district tournament action at Lemmerand Park. The combined Escanaba-Gladstone team scored nine runs in the first inning and cruised to the five inning win over Kingsford as Gabi Salo threw a no-hitter in the circle. Salo struck out 14 batters, and the only baserunner against her reached on an error.  Earlier on Tuesday, Kingsford mercied Norway, 27-4, in a game that was postponed from Monday night due to heavy rain. The rest of the district tournament schedule has been changed. Norway and Kingsford will play in the loser's bracket game Wednesday night at 5:00 ET/4:00 CT in Escanaba. The Delta County team will face the winner in the district final Wednesday at 7ET/6CT. Should Delta County lose that game, an additional game would be played on Thursday. The district champion will host the District Eleven champion from the northern U.P. in a sectional Saturday (2:00 and 4:00 ET) and if necessary, Sunday (at 1:00ET). KINGSFORD BOYS WIN DISTRICT---The first district championship to be awarded in District Ten Little League this summer was awarded to the Kingsford Senior Boys (age 15-16) Tuesday night in Quinnesec. Kingsford mercied Manistique twice, 21-0 and 18-0, to win the district banner. Austin VanPembrook threw a no-hitter in the first game, striking out 14 batters. Andy Barker threw a one-hitter in the secone game. Kingsford will host Portage Lake out of Houghton in the sectionals on Saturday (1:00 and 4:00 CT).
