Gladstone Girls Top Houghton In Defensive Battle
 GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School girls basketball team used strong defense to post a 36-32 win over the Houghton Gremlins Saturday afternoon in Gladstone. The Braves outscored the Gremlins, 14-2, over the course of nine minutes in the third and fourth quarters, and then held on at the end.  Izzy Matthews came off the bench to score jumpers on back-to-back plays, and the Braves had their biggest lead of the game at 32-21. Gladstone played the final few minutes at a deliberate pace, but turned the ball over a couple of times at Houghton came back. The Gremlins cut the gap to 34-32 in the final minute, but St. Cyr made two clutch free throws to seal the victory. Ashley Edwardsen led the Braves with ten points while St. Cyr added nine. Houghton was led by Sloane Zenner's 13 points and Ryynanen added 11 points. Gladstone improved to 4-2 on the season, while Houghton fell to 3-2.
